Dorji is from Detokha, Punakha and the only child in her family attending school. She has three siblings who are all farmers just like their parents. Due to difficult financial constraints, Dorji had to almost discontinue her education after class 9. However, with the help from a close friend she was able to complete her high school. Dorji is now a Loden Scholar pursuing her life-long dream to become a nurse.
