Khandu is from Hebesa in Wangdue Phodrang. She graduated from Punakha Central School. Khandu and her three younger siblings are being raised by parents who are solely dependent on farming to garner income for the family. Khandu is a diligent and very driven young individual aspiring to be a nurse. Despite achieving good marks in her class 12 examination, she still could not qualify to pursue nursing in a government institution. Today, Khandu is studying Nursing and Midwifery at the Royal Thimphu College under the Loden-RTC Scholarship.
