The Jomolhari Café will be set up at Jomolhari Base Camp at Soe gewog in Thimphu Dzongkhag. The business will be led by Sonam Rinchen with his two other siblings to provide hot beverages, a warm and cozy space, and other food items to visiting tourists in the area.
Sonam Rinchen is from Jomolhari and one of the few youths to complete undergraduate studies. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality from India and his siblings (a brother and a sister) also have similar qualifications in the same field. However, after being unable to find meaningful employment in Thimphu, the siblings decided to open a one-of-a-kind cafe at the base camp of Jomolhari with an elevation of over 4,000 meters above sea level.
