Prioritizing self-reliance for herself and for Bhutan, Sangay will establish a business growing essential vegetables such as onions and tomatoes. Having seen the acute shortage of such vegetables during the pandemic, Sangay experimented prior to considering to start the business. Based on the success of her trail-and-error, she will now produce these vegtable in a large scale.
Sangay has considerable farming experience and has undergone relevant trainings.
Sangay is supported through the Loden-UNDP COVID-19 Response Fund II that was targeted to provide livelihood skills and business support to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a joint initiative between Loden Foundation, UNDP Bhutan, Bhutan YDF, and RENEW.
