Chhukha Farmer’s Cooperative, comprising 32 members from 11 gewogs within Chhukha Dzongkhag, is dedicated to establishing markets for local farmers, thereby enhancing their livelihoods through agricultural products. The Farmer’s Sales Outlet serves as a bridge, fostering market linkages for Chhukha Dzongkhag farmers by adding value to their produce. Inaugurated in 2021 with financial support from the World Bank under the ASFPP project, the outlet operates in Gedu village, Bongo gewog, for over two years. It has created a market space for farmed and livestock products from the Farmer’s Marketing Group, also offering restaurant services with locally made cuisines for travelers.

Devika Chhetri, the cooperative’s chairperson, manages the Farmer’s Sales Outlet, covering all operational expenses, with 2% of the proceeds contributing to the cooperative. As outlined in her grant-loan agreement, approved funds are dedicated to procuring packaging machines and materials. To enhance marketing strategies, in line with the selection committee’s recommendation, the Farmer’s Sales Outlet will collaborate with specialized firms or institutions for implementing digital marketing strategies. Additionally, as per grant conditions, two new employees will be recruited within the next 6 months.
