The Loden Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Forest Ecopreneurs Incubation Program 2025 in Bhutan: a programme designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs who are passionate about protecting our forests and creating sustainable businesses that benefit both people and the planet.
This global initiative is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Bridge for Billions, with support from the Korea Forest Service (KFS), and is co-implemented in Bhutan by the Loden Foundation. The programme is also being rolled out in Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam, with a shared goal of supporting up to 100 early-stage, forest-focused enterprises across the region.

The official kickoff took place on 5th of April 2025 in Thimphu, bringing together a promising group of Bhutanese entrepreneurs who will now embark on a four-month journey of learning, mentorship, and practical business development. Over the course of the programme, participants will be guided through a structured online curriculum, with support from experienced mentors. They’ll refine their business models, learn how to manage finances, understand their market, and explore how their work can contribute to conserving Bhutan’s rich forest ecosystems.

In Bhutan, the programme takes on a uniquely community-based approach – connecting each project with local communities and encouraging collaboration among a network of stakeholders. The aim is not only to help these businesses become commercially viable but to ensure they grow in a way that’s environmentally responsible and socially inclusive. At its heart, the programme is about helping entrepreneurs build solutions that prevent forest degradation, strengthen community resilience, and offer new opportunities for green economic growth.
As the programme continues, participants will also take part in a field trip to deepen their understanding of forest-based livelihoods and the real-world impact of their work. The journey will culminate in a final demo event in July or August 2025, where each team will pitch their venture to a panel of potential investors, partners, and supporters. This final event is both a celebration and an opportunity to open new doors – whether through funding, partnerships, or public recognition.
The Forest Ecopreneurs Incubation Program represents a meaningful step forward for Bhutan’s growing community of ecopreneurs. At Loden, we believe in the power of business as a force for good, and we are proud to support young people who are not just dreaming of change – but building it, one idea at a time.
We look forward to seeing where this journey leads and invite our partners and supporters to follow along as we grow a greener future together.
