On November 16, 2024, our founder, Lopon Dr. Karma Phuntsho, was honored with Asia’s premier and highest honor—The Ramon Magsaysay Award—celebrating #GreatnessOfSpirit and #TransformativeLeadership.
Lopon Dr. Karma Phuntsho received this distinguished award for his exceptional efforts in bridging Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage with the opportunities of the modern era. Through his visionary work with the Loden Foundation, he has inspired countless young Bhutanese to embrace their roots while confidently shaping their future.
About the Ramon Magsaysay Award
The Ramon Magsaysay Award is Asia’s premier prize and highest honor, established in 1957 to commemorate Ramon Magsaysay, the seventh President of the Philippines. It recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations across Asia for their selfless service, transformative leadership, and unwavering commitment to integrity and excellence.
Often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Asia,” this prestigious award celebrates the power of positive change and the profound impact of inspiring leadership in areas such as community service, public administration, journalism, literature, creative arts, international understanding, and peacebuilding.

The ceremony was held at the Metropolitan Theatre in Manila, Philippines, and was attended by Loden’s President, Mr. Sangay Tshering; Communications Officer, Mr. Kinley C. Tenzin; and our dear friends and supporters from France, Gerard and Anne Tardy.
