School Sponsorship

Loden was founded as an educational charity in 1999 with the Child Sponsorship Scheme, which directed donations to children in need of critical educational support, such as uniforms, stationery, and other school-related expenses. The program has helped 219 children from low-income families stay in school and graduate. We connect generous sponsors with children in need, who are frequently recommended by local teachers or village elders and evaluated by a screening committee.

The flagship programme of Loden Foundation – Child Sponsorship - supports school going children in Bhutan by providing yearly costs for uniforms, stationeries, sports gear etc. Although school education in Bhutan is state financed, such extra costs can be often too heavy a burden for rural families, whose livelihoods are based on subsistence farming; and economically challenged families with little to no income.. The Loden Child Sponsorship Programme aims to support underprivileged children in achieving their basic right to education Loden sources donations from individuals and institutions from within and outside Bhutan to support the children. The sponsors are linked to a particular child in consultation with the donors. Loden Foundation will provide Nu. 6,000 for each child below class 8 and Nu. 8,000 above class 9 till 12. The Foundation also supports children in schools from class PP till 12 in mainstream education and children at monastic education below 18 years old.

Financially:

Sponsor a students education.

Nu. 10000 Supports one primary student for a year. This amount is donated in a lump sum to a child in a year.

Nu.835 Supports one primary student for a year. The amount donated every month adds up to Nu.10000 in a year.

Nu.417 Partially supports one primary student for a year. The amount donated every month adds up to Nu.5000 in a year.

Nu.12000 Supports one high school student for a year. This amount is donated in a lump sum to one student in a year.

Nu.1000 Supports one high school student for a year. The amount donated every month adds up to NU.12000 in year.

Nu.500 Partially supports one high school student for a year. The amount donated every month adds up to Nu.6000 in a year.

125 USD supports one primary student for a year. This amount is donated in a lump sum to a child in a year.

150 USD supports one high school student for a year. This amount is donated in a lump sum to a child in a year.

250 USD supports two primary students for a year. This amount is donated in lump sum to two children in a year.

300 USD supports two high school students for a year. This amount is donated in a lump sum to two students in a year.

1950 USD This lump sum donation ensures a child in pre primary school completes high school over a span of 13 years.

Annual Support:

Primary School: Nu. 10,000 per year (lump sum) or Nu. 835 per month
125 USD (lumpsum) or 10.41 USD (per month) supports one primary student for a year.
High School: Nu. 12,000 per year (lump sum) or Nu. 1,000 per month
150 USD (lumpsum) or 12.5 USD (per month) supports one high school student for a year.
