Coinciding with the closing event of the Global Entrepreneurship Week that was held on 21 November 2015 Loden has launched for the first time, ‘Bhutan Student Entrepreneurship Award’. The Award that was jointly organized by EO GSEA and the Loden Foundation was bagged by a Dorji Tshering, a student from the Gaddue College of Business Studies.
“The Printing and Photocopying’ business is everything for me. My educational expenses are all taken care from this business and I have been also helping my relatives”, said Dorji Tshering. He makes at least Nu. 35,000 every month as net profit which is a very lucrative business as a student. Besides his entrepreneurial qualities, Dorji is also a passionate social worker evidenced through a big sputa (Chorten) which stands majestically in front the college campus along the Thimphu-Phuntsholing express road. Dorji will participate in the Global Student Entrepreneurship Award which will be held in Bangkok in May 2016.
Tshewang Dem, the managing proprietor of Tshejor’s Azzey won the ‘Best Loden Entrepreneur Award’. The promoter started Azzey making venture as her personal hobby with one employee and one product which has grown up to seven employees and eight different products which are increasingly getting popular in the market. Tshewang was also awarded a ‘Women Entrepreneur of the Year’ organized by Ministry of Economic Affairs, Bhutan.
The Awards were conferred by His Excellency Dr Sonam Kinga, the Chairperson of National Council of Bhutan.
