karmaKarma Penjore is a blissful plant-pathologist and farmer in his best years who has given up his former government job to carry out this venture into entrepreneurship. He is in the process of constructing the shed for high-end mushroom farming close to the Agriculture Machinery Centre in Paro.

Given that farming mushrooms on the synthetic culture medium takes only about 5 months, and the construction will be completed in about 2 months, he is optimistic that his business operations will start in just a bit more than half a year.

Karma mentioned he won’t be able to meet the demand, as the market is very attractive– and as the Ministry of Agriculture confirms on an information sheet, export-oriented mushroom farming is seen as very beneficial to farmers to widen their operations.
