A Student from Gaeddu College of Business Studies Represents Bhutan in the Global Entrepreneurship Award, 2016
Mr. Dorji Tshering, a student from Gaeddu College of Business Studies was the first-ever Bhutanese student entrepreneur to represent Bhutan in the Global Entrepreneurship Awards (GSEA). The GSEA is a global competition for students who operate a profitable business while attending a college or university. Fifty students from fifty different countries participated in the GSEA Global Finals that took place in Bangkok from 10-12 May, 2016.
Mr. Dorji operates a very lucrative Printing and Photocopying business within the College campus through which he earns a net profit of Nu. 30,000 every month which is slightly more than what mid-level officers in the Civil Service receive. The venture was funded under the SEED (Student Empowerment through Entrepreneurship Development) program of the Loden Foundation. Through the SEED program the Loden Foundation offers grants of Nu. 100,000 to various institutes to support student led ventures within the college campus, with the aim to inculcate entrepreneurial skills and promote entrepreneurship among the young adults in the RUB colleges and Technical Training Institutions.
Dorji’s entrepreneurs skill of mobilizing resources and coordination are evidenced though the construction of a huge Stupa (Chorten) as his contribution tp the society which stands majestically in inform of Gaeddue Business College.
Dorji was the winner of the Bhutan Student Entrepreneurship Award, which was organized for the first time by Loden Foundation in November 2015 in collaboration with the Entrepreneur’s Organization GSEA.
The officials from Loden Foundation, Gaeddu Business College and Royal University of Bhutan will receive Mr. Dorji Tshering at the Paro International Airport on 14 May,2016.
